Lexington Police confirmed Saturday that the city's latest shooting victim has died from his injuries.
The Fayette County coroner's office confirmed that Douglas Jordan, 27, died at University of Kentucky Medical Center Friday. His death becomes Lexington's 11th homicide of 2016.
Investigators say Jordan was shot in the head near the University of Kentucky campus Thursday morning.
Jordan and a woman were walking down East Maxwell when the shooting happened, police said. That woman told police that the suspect ran off toward Linden Walk after the shooting. Nearby residents told police that they heard a gunshot, followed by someone crying.
Police found Jordan on East Maxwell Street between Linden Walk and Arlington Avenue.
At this time, no arrests have been made in the shooting.
Investigators believe there were other people in the area that may have seen or heard something. Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call police at (859) 258-3600.
