MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is working a crash that has closed part of Interstate 64.

Sheriff Fred Shortridge says a motorcycle crashed around 3 p.m. Wednesday in the west bound lanes near exit 110. A detour has been set up at exit 113.

The man and woman who were riding on the motorcycle were injured and rushed to the hospital. Sheriff Shortridge says the man died shortly afterward, and the woman is at UK Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Montgomery County coroner has since identified the man who died as 67-year-old John Locke of Louisville.

A person at the scene says Lock and the woman with him were with the Rolling Thunder group, which traveled to Frankfort on Wednesday to pay tribute to fallen servicemen. They are on their way to Washington D.C. for Memorial Day weekend.

Steve Curry, president of Louisville's Rolling Thunder chapter, told WKYT's Garrett Wymer on Wednesday evening that he was out ahead with another group in West Virginia when the crash happened. He said the group will continue on to D.C. as planned, but they will likely honor their friend in some way.
