UPDATE 6:57 a.m.

We now know the name of one of the victims in a deadly crash on New Circle Road in Lexington.

The Fayette County Coroner said 21-year-old Williamstown native Bethany Sue Staub died at the hospital.

The Coroner's Report said she died of blunt force trauma.

Two people are dead after a crash in Lexington.

We're told a vehicle on the inner loop lost control, crossed the median and hit another vehicle head-on in the outer loop near Leestown Road.

Police say the two people in the car that crossed the median were killed. They say several people in the other car were taken to the hospital, but there's no word on their conditions.

The inner loop of New Circle Road is currently shut down in that area. The ramp from Leestown to New Circle has also been closed. There's no word on when the road will be back open.

The inner loop is open, but traffic is moving at a crawl.

The police department's crash reconstruction unit has been called to the scene.

Here's the current traffic situation from KYTC:

  • All outer loop traffic is being diverted to the Leestown Rd exit.
  • Inner loop traffic will be stopped temporarily as needed by police while they investigate this incident.
  • Motorists on Leestown Rd between Forbes Rd and Citation Blvd can expect heavier than normal congestion and long delays due to this incident. Traffic affected in both directions.
  • We have a crew at the scene and we'll bring you more details as we get them.
