Firefighters in Richmond had to battle a structure fire at a business on Friday.
The first report of the fire at Journey Auto & Boat Sales on Automotive Drive came in to the Richmond Fire Department just before noon. Firefighters from both the Richmond Fire Department and Madison County Fire Department helped put out the flames.
Workers inside the business tell WKYT that they heard a loud noise and thought the wind had blown a door open. When they went to investigate, they saw heavy smoke and immediately left the building.
Employees say the loud noise sounded like an explosion. Fire officials are still working to determine a cause of the fire.
The fire destroyed several boats, but did not injure anyone. The owner says she hopes to reopen on Monday.
