Multiple Richmond Police officers are on the scene of a shooting investigation. Officers have a large area on Gibson Lane blocked off with crime tape.

The Richmond police chief tells WKYT that someone shot a man in the stomach. An ambulance transported the victim to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.

Police are going door-to-door asking people who live in the area if they saw or heard anything.

One neighbor said he witnessed a fight in the back of the Fox Glove Apartments. He stated that he saw one man who collapsed and was bleeding.

"I heard a big noise from the back window, I tried to look out to see what's going on. I just find a big, dark-skinned guy wearing nothing on the top and he was bleeding from his stomach and his back. Then he walked five, six steps from outside to inside the parking lot, then he fell down on the floor," said Ahmed Arkoub. Arkoub is considering moving. "I'm not American. I'm from Africa, and my family they're wanting to come here so I've got to think again if I have to stay in that place or find somewhere else," he said.

Police say the victim was rushed into emergency surgery at UK Hospital. As of Monday evening they say he is considered in critical condition.

They are not releasing the victim's name at this time.
