WKYT News Staff Kentucky State Police are working on a death investigation after fire crews found a body while putting out a house fire.
KSP were called to the home on Gail Hart Road on Friday afternoon in the Rockholds community.
Wilma Carter lives next door. She told WKYT she knew something was wrong when she saw smoke "billowing out from under the eaves" of the house. She called 911, and that's when she said she saw flames burst through the roof.
"I hate that to happen to anybody, and it's doubly bad that they would find somebody in there dead," Carter said. "We just pray for that family."
The body is unidentifiable and is being sent to the state medical examiner, according to officials.
Arson investigators went to the scene.
