A woman is in the Laurel County Detention Center after deputies say they found her wandering a neighborhood screaming that someone was trying to kill her.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff, deputies were called to investigate a complaint report off East Laurel Road at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Callers reported the woman screaming as she walked along Marydell Road, knocking on doors, and attempting to get into vehicles.

When deputies arrived, they say they found 34-year-old Mary Roark hiding behind a water meter cover. According to investigators, Roark told them the mob was trying to kill her, and apparently believed the deputies were part of that mob.

Deputies determined Roark was under the influence, and say they found needles on her.

She was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
