EUBANK. Ky. (WKYT) - A Pulaski County murder suspect is accused of strangling a 59-year-old woman to death while the victim's grandchildren were inside the home.

Investigators say the victim, Johnnie Faye Davis, was the mother of Bradley Allen McMahan's ex-girlfriend. McMahan, of Maryville, Tennessee, pleaded guilty in Tennessee to domestic assault charges after attacking the ex-girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend had an emergency protective order against McMahan.

Authorities say the grandchildren, ages 11 and 14, may have witnessed the strangling at Davis' home in Eubank.

McMahan's attorney entered a not guilty for him in court Friday and asked the judge to set a bond. The public defender said he came back as a low risk, but the county attorney said a study of his criminal history from Tennessee had not been completed yet. The judge agreed to a $1 million bond.

"I think the judge setting the bond was the appropriate thing to do, and I think the bond was set at an appropriate level. And I think the conditions set were appropriate at this point," assistant county attorney Kenton Lanham said.

McMahan will be back in court on Wednesday when a judge will consider whether there is enough evidence to send the case to the grand jury.
