Deputies: Teenager leads officers on chase, tries to run them over

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A teenager faces charges after deputies say he led officers on a chase and then tried to run them over with a car.

Andrew Oliver, 18, was arrested Saturday.

Officials with the Perry County Sheriff's Department say deputies were responding to a series of break-ins at Robert W. Combs Elementary Friday night.

When they arrived on-scene, police say Oliver, along with a 16-year-old, got in a car and drove off.

Investigators say Oliver led them on a chase to the Leatherwood community. When they finally stopped at a home, police say Oliver rammed into police cars and tried to run the officers over.

We are told about six officers were involved and one was taken to the hospital for knee and hip injuries.

Oliver faces charges of attempted murder of a police officer, fleeing or evading police, and wanton endangerment. Deputies may file more charges in the case.
