A man was taken into custody Wednesday after crashing into a building on Sir Barton Way.

Randall Scott Napier, 38, is charged with DUI, resisting arrest, and fleeing/evading police.

Lexington police said an officer noticed a driver parked on the sidewalk on Sir Barton Way near Winchester Road around 2:30 in the morning.

When the officer tried to make contact with the driver, the car sped off, going the wrong way down Sir Barton Road, police said.

Police found the car a short time later up against a pediatric dentistry building. An officer broke out the driver-side window to stop the suspect from driving away, police said.

That driver was taken to the hospital to be checked out. After leaving the hospital, police placed Napier in the Fayette County Detention Center.
