LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - People not only attended Faith Assembly of God in London on Sunday to sing and pray, they also went to hear John Godwin, one of the stars of the TV show "Duck Dynasty" speak.
"I told them a little bit about 'Duck Dynasty', a little bit about duck huntin' and a lot about Jesus," said Godwin.
Senior Pastor Dan Collard said Godwin was brought in to talk to the men of their church and the community on Saturday night.
"We're having a problem, there's a real problem with drugs, drug addiction, abusive lifestyles," Collard said.
But Collard hopes hearing Godwin's story will make an impact.
"John hasn't always been who he is today, the 'Duck Dynasty' and the John Godwin you see on 'Duck Dynasty' that's him now, but he wasn't always that man," said Collard.
During the service, Godwin spoke about how important religion is to him and the others on the show
"It wasn't meant to be, it's just if you get us, that's what you get," Godwin said.
And how their faith and values will become a lasting legacy of "Duck Dynasty".
"We just hope people can learn to maybe sit down at the end of the day and have a meal together, with the way life's so fast paced that they'll get back and do that and just get back to family, cause family is a big part of America," said Godwin.
Sunday's service was open to everyone in the community.
The last season of "Duck Dynasty" is airing right now on A&E.
New episodes air Wednesdays at 9 p.m.
