EKU Students come together for the presidential inauguration

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Students at Eastern Kentucky University got together Friday in the Powell Student Center to watch as President Donald Trump was sworn into office.

For many students, it was their first time ever voting in a presidential election. Regardless of their political beliefs, students came together to see history take place.

"I was kind of excited to watch the inauguration. It was the first president I ever got to vote for," student Ashley McKinney said.

Another student, Adria Golding, didn't vote for Trump. But she says, "I still have hope that he will change."

This election taught these first-time presidential voters that they are a part of the system.

"I feel like this election is starting to apply to me now, where at a younger age it never seemed that interesting to me," McKinney said.

There is one thing that students on both sides of the political aisle can come together and agree on - they're always hopeful for a better tomorrow.
