Eastern Kentucky man dies in logging accident

CRANKS, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police say an eastern Kentucky man is dead after a Tuesday logging accident.

Troopers responded to the scene of the accident near Ky. 568 in the Cranks community of Harlan County.

The victim was identified as John Williams, 36, of Evarts. He was working when the accident occurred. Workers with Three States Coal Sales and Logging Company removed Williams from the scene and took him by vehicle to an ambulance. He didn't survive when he arrived at the ambulance.

Medical examiners are scheduled to perform an autopsy on Williams Wednesday.

The accident remains under investigation.
