VERSAILLES, Ky. (WKYT) - A former Fayette County and Woodford County teacher has pleaded guilty to rape and sodomy of a student younger than 16.

Our news partners at the Lexington Herald-Leader report Lindsey Banta Jarvis, 28, pleaded guilty in Woodford Circuit Court Wednesday.

Jarvis is facing a recommended 18-month prison sentence after entering the guilty plea. She was also charged in Fayette County for crimes with the same student.

The former teacher is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 5, and she will begin home incarceration while awaiting sentencing.

An indictment says Jarvis sodomized the victim in May 2016 and had sexual intercourse with the victim in June 2016. She would leave Woodford County before being employed at Fayette County in August 2016.

The arrest report says the victim told police he had sexual intercourse with Jarvis and the report goes on to say the victim's cell phone had correspondence that suggested the victim and suspect were in a romantic relationship.
