A Kentucky judge has denied a request for a rape suspect to have his bond lowered, as his case is being sent to a grand jury.

Walter's attorney asked for bond to be lowered by at least one-half the current amount. The judge denied the request because of the severity of the charges Walter faces.

Authorities say Walter raped and sodomized a woman earlier this month. The victim tried to get Walter to stop, but he dismissed her during the assault. He would call the victim after the sexual assault stating he was sorry. The victim suffered injuries on several parts of her body.

The 7-foot, 300 pound Walter helped lead Covington Catholic to a state championship in 2018.
