FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say they are investigating the death of 21-year-old Jared Banta as a homicide.

Frankfort Police charged 18-year-old Brooke Kennedy and a juvenile with conspiracy to commit robbery. They also charged another juvenile with robbery. The names of the juveniles are not being released.

Someone found Banta's body in a car outside an apartment building on Schenkel Lane on Tuesday morning.

Police say Kennedy worked with the two juveniles to rob Banta as part of some kind of drug transaction. They say Banta was robbed at gunpoint, and eventually shot.

"What we are trying to do is now move beyond that point to see exactly who shot our victim and move forward," said Major Rob Richardson with Frankfort Police.

Frankfort Police anticipate more charges will be filed in the case.

Banta was a 2014 graduate of Western Hills High School.
