Friends remember Nicholasville man who drowned in Lake Cumberland

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Friends of a Nicholasville man who died Sunday are remembering him and his work.

The homes Marion Jones built, were big jobs.

"He builds really huge houses and does a great job," said friend Tom Kelley.

The 55-year-old founded Bluegrass Fine Homes in Nicholasville in 1996, and since then his friends say he's been one to get things done.

"He’s a good friendly guy, friendly with everybody, never met a stranger. He just talks all the time and he’s funny to talk to," Kelley said.

Which makes what happened Sunday afternoon at Lake Cumberland, even harder to face.

The Pulaski County Coroner says Jones slipped and hit his head on a boat, falling into the water and drowning.

"They dived in to try to get him revived and they couldn’t find him. It was about 25 foot deep water," Kelley said.

Jones was active in the builder community, volunteering for committees and participating in the annual Grand Tour of Homes.

"We’re going to be really missing Marion because he carries a big load for us," Kelley said.
