LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Deputies in Laurel County arrested a man suspected of stealing a van.

Dispatchers received a complaint on Wednesday morning that a vehicle reported stolen was being tracked by GPS on I 75 North at the 11-mile marker in Whitley County. The sergeant spotted the vehicle, a white colored Ford Econoline E250, at the 29-mile marker in southern Laurel County.

Several members of the sheriff's office conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested the driver without incident.

The driver told officers he had been kicked out of a location he was staying and needed a ride. According to deputies, the man admitted he saw a vehicle in the parking lot of the location with keys inside, so he took the vehicle.

Police charged Jerry Moffitt, Jr. with receiving stolen property $10,000 or more and not having an operator's license. Officers booked him into the Laurel County Detention Center. Moffitt is from Lexington
