Lexington hotel evacuated after electrical fire
Multiple fire crews are on the scene of a fire at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Lexington.
Fire officials say they received a call about smoke in the building around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
When they arrived, they found smoke in the basement. There was an electrical fire in one of the transformer boxes in the basement.
The hotel has been evacuated. Employees and guests are not allowed back into the structure until air monitoring levels are safe.
Officials say there was no damage to hotel rooms outside of the basement. The hotel is working with guests to find other places for them to stay for the night.
The fire also caused power outages in the downtown area.
