HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Huntington Police Department is investigating an alleged rape at the Cabell County Public Library.
Eric Price, 43, is charged with second-degree sexual assault.
Police met with the victim at St. Mary's Medical Center. She told investigators her rapist was an "acquaintance" and she described the suspect to them, later identified as Price.
The woman told police she ate with the suspect at the Huntington City Mission before they walked to the library. She needed to charge her phone, she said.
Once at the library, the suspect went into a bathroom. After plugging her phone in, the victim says she grabbed her backpack and went into the bathroom.
"She stated afterwards she turned to get her bag and he shoved her in the chest and she fell on her back," the criminal complaint states.
Police say the victim told them she was scared to death and screamed at him to stop. Then, she was allegedly raped.
According to the victim, she then left the library, walked to nearby apartments, and called 911. She was taken to St. Mary's for her injuries.
Investigators found blood in the bathroom and security footage that matches the victim's story.
Price is in the Western Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash or surety bail.
The library released this statement to WSAZ: "The library regrets this incident and is continuing to cooperate fully with the police investigation. The Cabell County Public Library Board and staff take security seriously and have a number of measures in place to make the library a safe place for all of our patrons."
