Hundreds of bikes given to kids by Lexington car dealership

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Hundreds of children are getting new bikes thanks to a local car dealership.

Audi of Lexington held it s third annual bike giveaway on Saturday.

Audi, along with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, partner with Bluegrass Cycle Club to donate bikes to children.

This year, managers say 262 bikes were given away thanks to donations from customers and businesses. In 2016, managers say they gave away 175 bikes.

"I just think back to when I had a bike and a lot of these kids never had a bike or don't know how to ride bikes, so it gets them out of the house and off their phones," Audi of Lexington general manager Chad Kemmish said.

Bluegrass Cycle Club also gave money to allow for helmets and bike locks to be handed out at the giveaway as well.
