Hundreds of dancers kick off 24-hour DanceBlue marathon at UK

LEXINGTON, Ky (WKYT) - The University of Kentucky's annual charity dance marathon kicked off Saturday night at Memorial Coliseum.

Hundreds of students stay on their feet for 24 hours raising money that will go to the Kentucky Children's Hospital to help children battling cancer.

Last month, money raised helped open a new DanceBlue Kentucky Children's Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic, more than doubling the patient care space.

Organizers say DanceBlue is the largest student-run charity at UK.

Over 900 dancers are expected at the event, now in it's 12th year.

Last year DanceBlue raised $1 million for charity.
