LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A crash caused a major traffic issue in Lexington Monday morning.
A semi carrying waste overturned around 7 a.m. Monday. Police say rush-hour traffic suddenly came to a stop, possibly causing the crash. Three other vehicles were also involved in the wreck.
The inner loop of New Circle was closed until just before noon.
Tire marks and churned up dirt in the median left a visible path as the waste truck plowed through safety wires, before eventually landing on its side.
First responders say the truck was hauling non toxic solid waste and dirt, but did spill more than 50 gallons of diesel fuel.
They also say no one was injured, but the crash did shut down the inner loop between Versailles Road and Harrodsburg Road as crews tackled the mess.
Officials also say they’re looking into what exactly caused the wreck, but they do know a vehicle was stalled on the side of the road at the time.
