CLARK COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A death investigation is underway after the remains of a body were found over an embankment in Clark County.

Investigators say people were walking along the roadway on Goshen Road, picking up cans, when they discovered the remains over the embankment.

Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue says it looks like the remains have been there for some time. He also said it appears to be an adult, however, he cannot give a gender at this time because the body was decomposed.

The Kentucky State Police Columbia post has now taken over the investigation. The same post is handling the investigation into the disappearance of northern Kentucky couple Robert Jones and Crystal Warner.

Family and friends of Jones and Warner have been searching in Clark County for the missing couple, after getting reports their car was spotted there. That car was later found in Scott County.

"We were actually gathering for tomorrow to start back out another search. We're just hoping this brings us some type of closure to the family. God knows they need it," Shawn Stump, a fraternity brother of Jones, told WKYT.

The couple was believed to have been killed last month in Washington County, but their bodies have not been found.

Jones's brother, William Jones, is confident the body investigators found, is his brother.

"I'm sure that it is. I just wanted to tell my mom, that I told her we'd find him," said Jones. "I just want us to make sure we find Crystal too because I know Bob would want that."

Craig Pennington has been charged with their murders.
