Jim Caldwell's Forecast | One "Cooler" day before a Summer surge

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The widespread daily thunderstorm chances are over... for now.

We are now on the back side of another cold front. This front keeps our temperatures down today. Most of us will see highs reach the low 80s. That is a whole lot better than the heat of yesterday and the heat of this upcoming weekend. For many of you the best part of being on this side of the cold front is the lower humidity levels. Those numbers dropped significantly. Our hotter temperatures will not be gone for very long. The numbers begin climbing again on Friday.

Heat comes before the humidity with this set-up. Friday will probably feature highs in the upper 80s. Those numbers are certainly getting on the hotter side, but the humidity isn't here yet. You will have a better chance to enjoy this day rather than dealing with the smothering heat.

Those smothering hot numbers will be here for the weekend. I expect highs to come in around 90 or higher at times. When we consider the levels of moisture in the air, the heat index will likely come in around the mid 90s by Sunday. Some pretty impressive numbers! Just be prepared for a late weekend surge!
