Jim Caldwell's Forecast | Winter chill shows up soon

By  |

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - You might run into a few showers today. Most of you will encounter the warmer temps and breezy conditions... again! Those winds will be switching directions soon. When these winds flip from the southwest to the northwest, change is coming! This happens as we progress through the day. Highs will fall from the mid and upper 50s to the low 30s on Wednesday.

There could be a few snow showers get cranked up on Wednesday morning. It doesn't look like the coverage will be widespread. I think Wednesday morning will be more about the colder air and less about snow. The same thing will carry over to Thursday & Friday. Each day will be dry and very cold.

A weekend system will be moving toward Kentucky and bringing rain & snow with it. The arrival time will be very early on Saturday morning (according to the latest projections) and will make a switch to a mix/all rain. Of course, it goes back over to snow as it pulls away from Kentucky. This set-up keeps snow a factor through Sunday night or even Monday morning. So many things will be changing with this system and how it will impact the folks in Kentucky.

The closer it gets, the better the forecast reliability becomes.
