Joella's Hot Chicken opens, offers first 100 customers free chicken for a year

They camped out for hours in anticipation of Thursday morning's grand opening of Joella's Hot Chicken.

Dozens of people starting lining up Wednesday, but only 100 lucky people were awarded with free chicken for a year. Restaurant officials say the 100 free vouchers for "chicken for a year" will be handed out at 8 a.m.

The new restaurant -- which moved into the former Billy's BBQ, 101 Cochran Road, in Chevy Chase -- opened at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Despite below-freezing temperatures, most people said it was worth the wait.
