Lawrence Co. kids accidentally shoot themselves with mother's gun
Kentucky State Police investigated a shooting that injured two young children in Lawrence County.
The Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency said police responded to Ramey Road Tuesday where the children were shot.
KSP said the children, ages 4 and 11, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators said it appeared both children were struck by the same bullet.
The younger child was struck in the leg. The older child was struck in the side, according to KSP.
Both were taken by ambulance to Cabell Hunting Hospital in West Virginia.
Officials said the children couldn't be airlifted to the hospital because of weather conditions.
The weapon, a .22 target pistol, was left out by the mother, according to KSP.
Police plan to present evidence in the case to a grand jury.
