A Democratic Kentucky lawmaker is looking to make several changes when it comes to voter registration, and one of the proposals is providing Spanish-language materials.

Rep. Reginald Meeks, D - Louisville, has pre-filed a bill in the Kentucky Legislature which would direct the State Board of Elections to provide voter registration applications by 2022. The board would also be required to publish information about voter registration in Spanish as well.

The bill would also allow people to begin voter preregistration as young as age 16.

Voters would also no longer be required to be registered to the party they will cast a ballot for during a primary election by Dec. 31 if the bill is signed into law.
