MOREHEAD, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police say a man is facing close to 200 counts of animal cruelty after receiving several complaints.
Troopers say Randy Skaggs, 67, of Sandy Hook was charged with 179 counts of animal cruelty and 179 counts involving not vaccinating dogs for rabies.
Troopers confirm Skaggs was the operator of the Trixie Foundation, which is a no-kill animal shelter.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture worked with Kentucky State Police on this case after the officials received numerous complaints reporting cruelty.
Skaggs was placed in the Big Sandy Detention Center.
Troopers are still investigating the case. They have yet to release additional details on the nature of the cruelty.
