Kentucky withstands another 3-point barrage in 87-74 win over Winthrop

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky was able to secure a comfortable victory over Winthrop Wednesday afternoon despite giving up 13 three-pointers.

The No. 10 Wildcats move to 4-1, winning their last four after a season-opening loss to No. 1 Duke. Winthrop falls to 2-3 on the season.

PJ Washington led the Wildcats in scoring with 19 while four others scored in double digits. Kentucky shot 56 percent from the floor.

The Wildcats have now given up 32 three-pointers in the previous two games. VMI made 19 against Kentucky Sunday night.

Three players led Winthrop in scoring with 11.

Kentucky's next game is Friday night against Tennessee State.
