Knox Co. woman calls 911 about armed intruder, gets arrested instead

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Knox County Sheriff's Department arrested a woman on several offenses after she called to report an intruder in her home.

A Knox County deputy responded to a call on Ron Cecil Road near Kay Jay on Wednesday night. A woman called dispatchers to report armed intruders were inside her home. When the deputy entered the home, the woman, identified as Betsy Cecil, came out of her bedroom along with her boyfriend, Brian Simpson. The deputy says he immediately recognized both were highly intoxicated.

The deputy searched the home but did not find any armed intruders.He said he did find more than 15 syringes, two plastic baggies of suspected crystal meth, two marijuana cigarette joints, a meth smoking pipe and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun on the bed.

The deputy arrested Cecil and Simpson. Both face charges of possession of a controlled substance-1st degree, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun by convicted felon and falsely reporting an incident.
