Krispy Kreme delivers doughnuts to Lexington police following viral photos

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Krispy Kreme is doing its part help replenish Lexington’s doughnut supply after a tragic fire decommissioned a local doughnut truck earlier this week.

After a tweet from the Lexington Police Department mourning the deceased doughnut truck went viral, Krispy Kreme has offered to send the officers more doughnuts.

The truck caught fire Monday near Man o’ War Boulevard and Pink Pigeon Parkway just after its driver had made a delivery in Morehead. Crews were able to extinguish the fire shortly after, but the responding officers took the loss pretty hard.

Their post gained mounds of online attention, and Krispy Kreme kindly offered to send more doughnuts in the officers’ direction in a Tuesday tweet.

The company came through, as police received several dozen doughnuts Wednesday afternoon.
