LFACC: Bring your pets inside for winter storm

LEXINGTON, Ky (WKYT) -- Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control is reminding people to be mindful of pets during Saturday night's winter storm.

“Regardless of bad weather, if you see a stray animal on the street, of if you see a possible abuse or neglect situation, always call us," said Shelby Bailey, the shelter's public information officer.

With temperatures expected to dip below 20 degrees, the shelter recommends people bring pets inside.

“If they're out in cold weather for too long, they can start shivering and become really unhappy," said Bailey.
"They can have all the same responses a person can have."

For larger animals that must stay outdoors, animal control officers say make they have shelter, warm bedding, and food and water inside a plastic bowl.

If you come across any stray animals, officers say to contact Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control at 859-255-9033.
