LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Schlotzsky's Deli on Tiverton Drive off Nicholasville Road is getting into Eclipse fever. There was a line wrapped around the building with people trying to get Eclipse glasses Monday morning.

The restaurant manager says they have about 160 pairs of glasses. People have to purchase a small Classic sandwich for $4.00 in order to get a pair of Schlotzsky's eclipse glasses, while supplies last. Some people stood in line for more than two hours to try and get a pair.

"I woke up at 6 a.m. to wait in line to get some glasses at Schlotzsky's," said UK student Anthony Niedzielski. "It hasn't happened in 38 years. It's gonna happen in 2024. That's when it's gonna happen next, and I think you just gotta take advantage of the times. You just gotta experience things as they happen."

The line was also long at the Veteran Vendors Mall which is located at 1496 Leestown Road. The owner says he picked up a shipment of 2,500 eclipse viewing glasses on Monday morning. There was a large crowd of people waiting when the doors opened at 10 a.m.
