LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Lexington Legends' new marketing strategy making light of common millennial stereotypes has led to a variety of responses.
The promotion shows young people at the ballpark all on their cellphones, and they are promoting free parking, participation ribbons, nap time and selfies.

Promotions and giveaways are a staple of minor league franchises looking to attract fans to the ballpark, and some are praising the concept while others are not too thrilled.
Personally, I think this is brilliant! Nice work!— Katie (@Ktsimmi) May 13, 2018
This is hilarious!— UK Robbie (@robbiewaugh) May 13, 2018
People getting offended at this need to learn to laugh. 😂😂😂😂— Hector (@PRHector78) May 12, 2018
😂😂😂 All this salt...should have added safe spaces.— Jeff Knabe (@jeffknabe) May 13, 2018
Some were critical of the promotion, saying it is insulting a portion of its fanbase.
Can you imagine what it’s like studying ad/marketing/pr, getting hired to promote a brand, and then thinking posting this is a good idea?— Jonathan (@Jonjamo) May 12, 2018
You must have absolutely no budget for a PR director. This is embarrassing.— Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) May 13, 2018
Really disappointed in my local team, whose games I have attended since the very first game. Stereotyping and meanness is not what baseball is about. Baseball is about sportsmanship, being your best self, & having fun. But not at the expense of others.May not return anytime soon.— Heather Beirne (@fraochingirl) May 13, 2018
Others decided to take shots on older generations, especially baby boomers.
First 10,000 fans in attendance get crippling student debt— Nick Parco (@nick_parco) May 12, 2018
I can’t wait for Baby Boomer Night. They get to destroy the environment, hallow out the middle class, destroy the labor movement, sit by while the manufacturing industry gets outsourced, enjoy social security and Medicare wo making them sustainable, plus start two unfunded wars— Sean McKillop (@seanmckillop) May 13, 2018
What are you guys going to do for Gen. X and Boomer nights? Economic ruin, resulting in sky high concession and gift shop prices? Or how about a mannequin of a millennial they can blame for their own shortcomings?— Drake Gillaspie (@Drake_OMalfoy) May 12, 2018
First 5000 tickets to Boomers free! Oh, and we won't print any more because that would lower the value of nearby ticketholders' seats. Maybe find a Boomer willing to rent out a spare ticket for twice its cost, who'll spend the game calling you lazy for not owning your own ticket.— Pat Kelly (@ReadingFailroad) May 13, 2018
You can get your free participation ribbon once the gates open at 6 p.m.
The Legends are taking on the Greenville Drive, and they are looking to sweep the three-game series with a win.
