Lexington Police are investigating a death after finding a body inside a car that was on fire.

Police tell WKYT that firefighters were called to a vehicle fire near the Woodford-Fayette county line at the intersection of Redd Road and Elkchester Road around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Police responded to the scene shortly after firefighters arrived to the scene.

Once the fire was out, investigators found a body in the backseat of the car.

Police say the car was pulled off on the side of the road near a farm.

Police had the road shut down for hours while they were on scene.

We're told a forensics unit is still processing the car.

Police say they have no suspects in case. They do tell WKYT that a witness called in the fire after hearing an argument in the area. Police tell us that witness went to check out the argument when he found the car on fire.

No other details about the case have been released at this time.

Police are still investigating the death.
