He’s one of the most famous Americans in history and Saturday was all about exploring his Kentucky roots.
Abraham Lincoln Day is a partnership with LEX History tours and the Lexington history museum.
The event was held at the newly renovated old courthouse downtown, and highlighted the influence Lexington had on Lincoln’s life.
Just realized how few people realize how important Lexington and Lexingtonians are in the life of Lincoln," Phil Maxson of LEX History Tours said.
There was a presentation and tour. As well as activities for the kids.
The event also celebrated camp Nelson and the role it played during the civil war, along with its recent designation as a national monument.
While Saturday's was the first Abraham Lincoln day here in Lexington organizers hope it won’t be the last.
"We’ll start planning here in a few weeks for next year," Maxson said.
The Explorium of Lexington handled the events for the kids.
