A dance company in Lexington is preparing for their summer show! Allegro Dance Project is made up of professional dancers, aerial artists, and a unique group of children. Its founder, Jeana Klevene, shares her extensive experience with professionals and with children in an outreach program.
Students in Allegro Dance Project's outreach program will dance alongside the professionals Saturday.
"That provides free dance training and performance opportunities for children with Down Syndrome, autism spectrum disorder and other specific needs. We think of it almost as dance therapy," notes Klevene. "I've loved dance since I was three and just all of the benefits it's provided me, and to get to share that with children who might not otherwise have the opportunity it's joyful for me, it's joyful for the children, it's joyful for the dancers who get to help assist and make that difference in someone's life."
Allegro has two shows Saturday, July 14th - at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. - at the Lyric Theatre. For tickets, visit lexingtonlyric.tix.com or call (859) 280.2218.
