Lexington police arrest man accused of punching police officer
A man faces multiple charges after Lexington police say he punched a police officer in the mouth Saturday morning.
Police say they received a report that Christopher Davis, 39, was harassing staff at the transit center on Vine Street.
Police say an off-duty officer happened to be nearby at the time. When he approached Davis, police say Davis punched the officer and ran off.
Two other police officers nearby soon saw Davis and tried to stop him. When Davis tried to assault them, police say one of the officers used a taser on Davis to arrest him.
Davis was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center. He's been charged with third degree assault, disorderly conduct, menacing, and resisting arrest.
Police say the officer who was punched was not seriously injured.
