LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- The Lexington Road Department says their crews will be working 12-hour shifts beginning on Friday to take on the chances of snow accumulation over the weekend.

They say 40 trucks will be hitting the road just dedicated to snow removal. The department says they will rank a multitude of roads between one and four that will indicate which roads will need to be treated first based on the amount of traffic.
Crews tell WKYT they aren't so much concerned about the snow as they are the ice. With rain in the forecast, they say putting salt onto the roads can be meaningless. They say any salt they put down will most likely be washed away.
They are no asking for drivers for help by slowing down on the roads and by having patience with their crews.
