VERSAILLES, Ky. (WKYT) - A major Versailles employer has announced it is closing its factory, and it will impact 260 employees.
Ledvance has announced it has begun the process of closing the company's manufacturing facility because of decreased demand for lighting products made at the plant.
"The global lighting market continues to move toward solid state lighting, commonly called LED," the company said in a statement. "This is resulting in diminished demand for such products as fluorescent tubes, traditional BR30 light bulbs and traditional PAR38 flood lights manufactured in the LEDVANCE Versailles Glass & Lamp manufacturing facility."
The company said it would work with affected employees during the closing process. The production is expected to be phased out in September 2019.
This decision will not impact the Midwest Distribution Center and the Research & Development Lab in Versailles. Those operations employ 100.
