Man accused of trying to rob Lexington Sonic with broom arrested

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is in jail accused of trying to rob a Lexington restaurant with a broom.

John-Parker Harrell was arrested Sept. 13.

His arrest citation says on Aug. 21 he went to Sonic on New Circle Road.

The manager told police Harrell came inside to use the bathroom. After doing so, the manager said Harrell was acting weird.

The citation alleges Harrell then picked up a broom and started hitting the door of the restaurant. The broom broke in half as Harrell was demanding money.

The suspect eventually ran from the store without stealing anything.

Harrell is charged with second-degree robbery.
