Kentucky State Police charged Carl Miller with cruelty to animals. According to investigators, the 72-year-old admitted to killing his horse. (WARNING: The details of the case are disturbing.)

Police say Carl Miller told them he was upset because the horse kept getting out of a fenced area and into the neighbor’s yard, causing damage to the fence in the process.

According to police, Miller did not want the horse to cause damage to their neighbor’s fence so he took an ax and split the horses head.

Starr Campbell says that her father killed the horse with an ax because the family did not own a gun.

“I see both sides. I don't condone what he did. I don't like what he did. But he's just from that generation where that's what they did; when they didn't see anything fit, they got rid of it.”

According to the daughter, the horse was a gift for his grandson.

Police arrested Miller and placed him in the Three Forks Regional Jail.

He is due in court August 9th to answer to the animal cruelty charge.
