LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man who was shot in Lexington back in May has died.
On May 29, a gunman shot Skyler Ray in the head outside Saddle Ridge on South Broadway. Ray's friends said he was trying to break up a fight when he was shot.
"I could see Skyler being the guy to step up and say 'Hey guys, we don't need to fight.' He was just being a good citizen to stop it from escalating and that happened to him," said Michelle Sharon.
Sharon's son has been a friend of Ray's since the two were in middle school in Bourbon County.
The Rockcastle County coroner says Ray died Wednesday morning at a respiratory care center there.
Sharon had already planned a charity horse ride at Carter Caves State Park on October 15 to help Ray's family with medical expenses.
Wednesday she said that ride would go on, in his honor.
About a week after the shooting, Lexington Police charged Leslie Parson with assault for the shooting. Police have not said if the charges against Parson's will be upgraded.
