Matt Jones plans to challenge Sen. McConnell in 2020

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky Sports Radio host Matt Jones says he wants to run against Senator Mitch McConnell.

Jones told Politico Magazine, "If it's Mitch McConnell, I can win. And no other Republican will, and I don't think any other Democrat can. But I can."

McConnell's office did not respond to the magazine's request for comment.

Jones, a Democrat, has considered running for office before. In 2015 he decided against challenging U.S. Representative Andy Barr in Kentucky's Sixth District.

McConnell, who is serving his sixth term as a U.S. Senator, hasn't said if he will seek re-election in 2020.
