Menifee County school employee accused of snorting pills in front of students
A Menifee County school employee is behind bars facing multiple charges after school leaders say she appeared intoxicated on a school campus.
Superintendent Timothy Spencer says he received reports of an employee, 41-year-old Cherish Rednour, who appeared to be under the influence.
School leaders contacted law enforcement, who arrested her on multiple offenses.
An arrest report says the woman was at Menifee County Elementary/Middle School where two students say Rednour was crushing a pill with a credit card and making a line. The students say they watched her snort the pill before slumping over on her desk.
Investigators say they noticed Rednour's pupils were dilated, and she failed a field sobriety test. They later found white residue on the desk and a tampon applicator that resembled a cut straw inside her bra.
Rednour was charged with public intoxication of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She remains in the Montgomery County Jail.
Spencer says Rednour is suspended pending further investigation. She had been employed at the school since the beginning of the school year.
Spencer says this is the first time in his career as a principal or superintendent that he has dealt with an incident of an employee under the influence on the job.
