Miss Kentucky gives her crown to a little girl battling cancer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- Clark Davis says the job of Miss Kentucky is about more than a crown and sash, and those aren't empty words coming from this young lady. Davis actually gave one of her own crowns to a little girl battling cancer at a Relay for Life event in Henderson, Kentucky.

When 3-year-old Anna Shappell saw Miss Kentucky she ran over to her immediately and started talking to her bout how her birthday was coming up. That's when Clark decided to give the little girl a gift she'll not soon forget. Clark told her she could have one of her two crowns as long as she promised to keep battling and beating cancer.

Anna's parents, Brooke and Eric Shappell tell us the little girl is battling A.L.L. or Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She is currently in remission and doing well.
