The northbound lanes of Interstate 65 in Warren County are back open after a crash involving several vehicles that left six people dead.

The crash happened around 10:38 p.m. near mile marker 30. Two commercial vehicles and two vans were involved.

Kentucky State Police say that the crash happened in a construction area where the roadway merges from three lanes to two. There was traffic congestion at the time due to the construction.

One semi was stopped in traffic in the right lane with two passenger vehicles stopped behind it. State Police say a second commercial vehicle approaching in the right lane failed to stop, hitting one of the passenger cars and causing a chain reaction crash.

Warren County Coroner Kevin Kirby said a family of six was in one of the vans involved. He said a child in that van is the only survivor. The child was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The coroner says the boy, who is five or under, is expected to survive.

The coroner confirms Lonny D. Boster, 59, Lonny D. Boster, 30, Jonell Boster, 48, Carl Boster, 17, and Robert Hogan, 74, died.

We are told the family was traveling back home to Beech Grove, Indiana from Florida.

The crash also killed the driver of the other van. However, the coroner is not releasing their identity pending notification of family.

Police reopened all lanes of I-65 before 7 a.m.
