It was a big day for Shriners hospitals. The new Lexington Shriners Medical Center is located across the street from UK Hospital and a dedication ceremony for the new facility was held, Sunday.
Shriners has a longtime history of helping children in need and Sunday those children a long with dozens of people from around the region got to celebrate the new facility.
"We were on Richmond road for 60 years. We have been in Lexington for 90," Morgan Hall said.
Hall says the move is a big deal and will help their patients.
"For instance my doctor will be in this building full time so he will always be around if somebody needs to slip in sometime to see him," Lily Silverstein said.
Silverstein says after several surgeries Shriners became like a second home. She says this new facility will give other kids in need a good chance to get better.
"I've had five surgeries done here. I've had a dozen prosthetic legs made for me and it's all care regardless of the families ability to pay. So they've really just given me so much," she said.
